In the heart of remote Australia, a journey that felt like endless hours from our base at Haasts Bluff led us to the Tilmouth Well Roadhouse. Here, the land unveiled itself, parched, dry and cloaked in a dusty embrace. This was uncharted territory, a canvas untouched by our lenses until now.
To capture the essence of the vast Salt Lake a helicopter had been organised. Our aim was to reveal the grandeur of Lake Lewis, a body of salt that stretched to infinity. Hours dissolved into moments as our shutters clicked, and the landscape became captivating patterns. I was in awe as we weaved above the spectacle of bleeding creeks, their waters merging like tree branches into the salt lakes unforgiving expanse.
This “island” emerged from the vast salt, as if the scarce traces of water were being cradled by encircling arms of salt, reaching out from the land itself. The infinite solitude of this image is a reminder of the delicate equilibrium that nature maintains in even the harshest of environments.
