About Me

Diane Armstrong

Welcome to my world. I'm Diane Armstrong, a finalist for Australian Photographer of the Year (2022-23), a seeker of hidden natural gems, and a storyteller through my lens. My photography is a voyage into the wild, a quest for the elusive, where each shot is a daring dance with nature, striving to capture its untamed beauty from breathtaking angles.

Photography is not just a passion but a calling for me. It's an exploration, an adventure, and a love affair with the earth's splendours, nurtured on my expeditions and refined through mentorship by the esteemed Ken Duncan. These experiences have shaped my artistic vision, propelling me into new realms with CapturEDU and beyond. I always aim to push the boundaries of this art form.

My approach to photography is deeply rooted in a principle I call "A Fortunate Lens." This perspective is my guiding light, reminding me of the privilege of connecting with and capturing the essence of the natural world. It's a mantra that drives my mission to unveil the magnificence in each moment, transforming the ordinary into extraordinary visual narratives.

As a "Creative," my life is a mosaic of experiences—from the thrills of flying small aircraft to the tranquillity of hiking through lush landscapes. These adventures fuel my creativity, allowing me to channel the vibrant energy of the outdoors into my work. They remind me that photography is more than capturing visuals; it's about crafting gateways for exploration and daily wonder.

With several regional awards under my belt and the honour of being named a finalist in Australian Photographer of the Year in 2022, my collection of prints is more than decoration. Each image is an invitation to venture into the unknown, to be captivated, and to find inspiration in the world's natural wonders.

But beyond accolades and achievements, my genuine aspiration lies in inspiring others. Through my lens, I aim to foster a connection with nature, encouraging viewers to uncover their passions and see the world through a fortunate lens of their own. This drive for creativity, coupled with a commitment to compassion, equality, and inclusivity, resonates in every frame I capture.

My Instagram, a_fortunate_lens, is a testament to this journey — a showcase of moments where time stands still and the beauty of our planet speaks. Here, I share my passion, inviting you into a world where extraordinary scenes illuminate the canvas of our everyday lives.

Join me in this ongoing adventure, where we discover together the power of photography to inspire, connect, and enkindle the vibrant spirit within us all.
