Kati Thanda, Lake Eyre, South Australia Limited Edition 2/20
What a sight! The morning light glistened across the mesmerising expanse of Kati Thanda. Lake Eyre, as it’s been more commonly labelled, was a shallow expense, gradually filling from the rivers in the North. The single engine plane I was precariously strapped into criss-crossed the patterns below. The light was changing quickly and as it did the colours of the scene below transformed also.
The Lady of the Lake figure that lay beneath us bore witness to this ancient land and its ever-changing landscape. We circled around her form and captured it from every angle, and as we inched further north my shutter became still. There was a sense of time standing still as our eyes fixed on the “eyes” beneath us. What appeared to be fish swimming were indeed tiny islands of salt that rose out of the glistening water. As we circled more shapes emerged, and the stillness of my shutter was awakened into action to capture the enchanting beauty below.

“The beauty of your story is that it’s going to continue to evolve and your site can evolve with it. Your goal should be to make it feel right for right now.”
